Louis Robert Schmidt, 78, of Kings Park NY, on February 24, 2023.  Born on September 2, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Louis & Jean Schmidt.  Beloved husband of 19 years to Cathleen E.  Loving father of David (Lorelei) Schmidt and Daniel Schmidt.  Adored stepfather of Erin (Duane) Davis, Meredith (Eric Ellsworth) Conner Ellsworth, Susan (Joshua) Kiessling and Shannon (David) Dougherty.  Cherished grandfather of Chandler, David James, Sarah, Sean, Emmeline, Alyssa and Conner.  Dear brother of the late Edward (Alice) Schmidt, Gloria (Emil) Schatz, Anne Schmidt and John (Ann) Schmidt.  Fond brother-in-law of Barbara Fritzsche and the late Gerald Yung.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Louis served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a retired Manager for Con Edison in New York City.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Butler-Hughes Funeral Home Inc. 69 Indian Head Rd., Kings Park.  Funeral Service Friday, March 3, 2023 - 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church of Northport, 330 Main St., Northport NY  11768.  Interment to follow with military honors at Calverton National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Lou's memory to either the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org.
